The Iraq Stock Exchange (بورصة العراق للأوراق المالية / ISX) is the official securities market of Iraq, headquartered in Baghdad. It operates under the supervision of the Iraq Securities Commission (هيئة الأوراق المالية العراقية / ISC). Trading sessions run Sunday through Thursday, reflecting the Iraqi work week.
The market was established in its modern form in 2004, replacing the Baghdad Stock Exchange (BSE). It has grown to list 104 companies across banking, telecommunications, industry, tourism, insurance, agricultural, and services sectors.
The banking sector is the most active on the ISX with 40 listed banks, including conventional and Islamic banks. Key players include Asiacell's parent company structure, Baghdad Bank, and various investment banks. The sector is regulated by the Central Bank of Iraq (البنك المركزي العراقي / CBI) in addition to ISC oversight.
Two major telecom companies are listed on the ISX:
Asiacell (TASC) — One of Iraq's three major mobile operators, Asiacell is majority-owned by Ooredoo (Qatar). It is among the largest companies by market capitalization on the ISX.
Al-Khatem Telecom / Zain Iraq (TZNI) — The Iraqi subsidiary of Zain Group (Kuwait), operating under the brand Zain Iraq. It holds the largest paid-up capital on the ISX at over 1.8 trillion IQD.
