Gold prices

This is a local Iraqi price list published daily, not a world ounce price converted into dinars. The source publishes a gram price per karat; a mithqal is 4.608 grams and an ounce is 31.1035 grams, and both prices here are a direct multiple of the gram price — no making charges and no jeweller's margin.

The dollar figures in the list come from the same source. Set against the dinar prices, they imply a conversion near 1,312 dinars per dollar — close to the official rate of 1,320, not the parallel market rate of 1,545. Anyone holding dollars and buying locally pays more than that column suggests.
